The pastel is a classic Brazilian snack: a very thin dough fried until it is golden and blistered, filled and served hot. Lig Peg's menu is long and organised by filling. There is shrimp with catupiry, chicken with catupiry, ground beef with cheese, with cheddar or plain, three cheeses, broccoli, vegetarian and pizza. Along the carne de sol line, the beef of the sertão, there is the sertanejo, the carne de sol with cheddar and the special carne de sol, plus the carne na nata. And with names of their own: the Mineirão, the Mistão, the Paulista, the Cassiane and the Maria Luiza.
In the house photos the pastéis are shown open, with the filling in view: one with shredded meat, one with ground meat, boiled egg and olives, one with ham, corn and tomato, and one with shrimp in red sauce. The dough is golden and blistered, as a fried pastel should be.
The menu also has sweet pastéis: the Cartola, which in the Northeast means banana, cheese, sugar and cinnamon; the Romeu e Julieta, which in Brazil is cheese with guava paste; and the paçoca one, made with the ground-peanut sweet. In the photos there is one filled with banana and hazelnut chocolate cream, with the jar of cream behind it.
Pizzas come in two sizes: the brotinho, an individual one, and the large. Among the individual ones there is mozzarella, margherita, napolitana, calabresa, four cheese, mixed, tuna, chicken with bacon, smoked turkey breast, smoked loin, nordestina, sertaneja, carne de sol with catupiry, and the ones called moda da casa and moda do pizzaiolo. Among the large ones are pepperoni, chicken with catupiry, arugula and mushroom. You can also order half-and-half, with two flavours, even in the mini version.
On the sweet side there are chocolate, white chocolate, Cartola, Romeu e Julieta and Loucura de Sabor pizzas, individual and large. In the photos there is one with chunks of chocolate, banana slices and cinnamon on an aluminium tray, and a savoury one with tomato slices, boiled egg, olives and oregano.
There are also fries in small and large sizes, and a version with cheddar and bacon. The venue lists small portions and quick bites, a fair description of the pastéis and the individual pizzas: you order one, two or three, and the table builds itself as you go.
One way to work through the menu is in stages. Start with two or three savoury pastéis in the middle of the table, with different fillings to try. Then one individual pizza each, or a large one to share, and fries if the hunger asks for them. To finish, a sweet pastel or a sweet pizza, with a fresh juice, a coffee or the sugar-cane juice.
The drinks list includes fresh juices of orange, passion fruit, strawberry, acerola, pineapple, lime, mango and guava, plus caldo de cana, the pressed sugar-cane juice that is the classic partner of a pastel. There are canned and bottled soft drinks, water and bottled beers: Bohemia, Budweiser, Stella Artois, Petra Puro Malte and Heineken. The venue lists alcoholic drinks and coffee among its menu options. In the photos there is an iced yellow juice with a sprig of mint, served in a glass on a white table.
The venue describes itself as casual and quiet, and says it welcomes groups and tourists. The facade is yellow, with the name in red letters and the line "Pastelaria e Pizzaria" beneath it; through the opening below you can see the dining room, with woven-fibre lamps hanging down, a television and decorative plates on the wall. Inside, wood and red dominate: walls clad in boards and red openwork chairs around white tables.
There is free Wi-Fi and a restroom, and service is split between waiters in the dining room and a counter: you can sit and wait for the table, or drop by to pick up an order. The venue also lists itself as good for eating alone, with lunch and dinner among the meals it serves.
It opens 11am to 11pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday to Sunday, and closes on Wednesdays. The closed Wednesday is the detail worth keeping at hand: that is the day to pick another table. The rest of the week the kitchen runs from midday to eleven at night, so the pastel works as a quick lunch and as a late dinner.
For the night you do not feel like leaving your accommodation there is delivery, with the house's digital menu at b2f.app/ligpeg, and for anyone passing by there is counter service and takeaway.
Lig Peg is at Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos 213, on Praia da Pipa, in Tibau do Sul. The general reference for finding your way is Praia da Pipa: from the avenue, the place is recognisable by its yellow facade with red letters. If you are arriving from Natal, from the airport or from another beach on the coast, look at the transfer options for the long stretch, and for the last one order the house's delivery.
The venue says it is good for going with children, and backs it with the two things that make it possible: high chairs and a kids' menu. For a family that means the table comes ready: the cheese pastel or the individual pizza becomes a plate of its own, and the fresh juice replaces the soda.
It also lists wheelchair-accessible seating and accessible parking. Knowing that a parking space and a table are set up is what lets you plan the outing in advance.
For anyone after a quick, hot meal with a lot to choose from: the savoury and sweet pastéis, the individual pizzas and the fries let you build anything from a snack to a dinner.
For a family with children: high chairs, a kids' menu, fresh juices and a casual, quiet dining room.
And for the group where everyone eats differently: declared vegetarian options, broccoli pastel, arugula and mushroom pizzas, and bottled beer for whoever wants one.
It closes on Wednesdays. The other six days it serves from 11am to 11pm.
