Fest Bossa & Jazz 2019

The event begins this Thursday (15) and ends on Sunday, at Praia da Pipa, Tibau do Sul (RN). For 10 years the small village has been presented with one of the largest festivals in the jazz and blues segment of Brazil and is part of the calendar of must-see events for those who enjoy good music, the beach, nature and the high spirits of Pipa.

This mix of rhythms has already gathered an estimated audience of over 300,000 people throughout the editions, with international artists such as JJ Jackson, Willie Walker, Donny Nichillo, Jose James, Galactic, Erica Falls, Stanley Jordan, Indiana Noma, Jai Malano, Grana Louise, Eric Wales, Larry MacCray, Andrews Glen David, Alabama Myke, Raphael Wressnig and many others. In the list of nationals, names like Ivan Lins, Ed Motta, Lenin, Leny Andrade, Yamandu Costa, Roberta Sá, Marcos Valle, Wanda Sá, Mauro Senise, Leila Pinheiro, Osmar Milito, Roberto Menescal, Mestrinho, Sandra de Sá, João Donato , Blues Beatles, Taryn Szpilman and more.

This year there are big names in national and international music such as Lan Lanh (BA / RJ), who has been on the road for over 30 years, making the sound vibrate in rhythms that beat in string, leather and wood. The percussionist is a reference in the middle and pioneer of the Cajón (instrument) in Brazil. Accompanied by Guto Menezes's six / seven string guitar and João Felippe's five-string ukulele; Moraes, Mathisen and Zimring Trio, formed by Paraibano Gabriel Moraes (guitarist, arranger and music director), Norwegian Per Mathisen (bassist) and Israeli Utsi Zimring (drummer and composer) come to the country for the first time, bringing the new work with unpublished compositions, fruit of the connection between Brazil, Norway and Israel; The Cinelli Brothers (England), renowned for their expressive performances in the English capital, play classics such as Willian Dixon's Back Door Man, and even Prince's Kiss, promise to catch blues, soul and r & b.

This artist team joins 19 more attractions, Terráquea Band & Cacá Magalhães (BA), Brazuka Jazz (RN), Indiana Nomma (Honduras and RJ) and Duetto Cabroso (RN), Darlan Marley Quartet (RN), Gabriel Yang ( CE), Arthur Philipe & Quintessence (PE), Chico Bethoven & Regional Elephant Crying (RN), Macumbia (PB), Clara Menezes (RN), Duo Rock Cello & Piano (RN), Gumbo Blues (CE), Duo Jubilee Son & Cacá Velloso (RN), Jammin ”(RN), Blues Sinners (PE / RN), Pablo Osta (ARG), Fernanda Fialho (EC), Pipa Quartet (URU / SP / CE / BA), Bossa & Jazz Street Band (RN).

Intimate pocket show performances are free between streets, galleries, and plaza, spread across five poles along the main avenue, Baia dos Golfinhos, and at three restaurants on Praia do Centro. And to wrap up, the songs and audience come together to improvise and sing at Jam Sessions at the end of each night.

Fest Bossa & Jazz also acts in social and environmental actions with lectures, ecological walks, workshops and musical workshops. On Thursday and Friday (August 15th and 16th) there is a musical talk for children from the community, with Luciano Prates on "What is this Jazz Guy"; On Saturday (August 17th), Brazilian musician Gabriel Yang gives a four-hour workshop for guitarists and enthusiasts with the "Cigar Box" Craft Guitar Construction; On Sunday (August 18), a conversation forum for local musicians about 'Living Music: Reality and Challenges' with Honduran singer-songwriter Indiana Nomma.

Consolidated in the Potiguar calendar, the Fest Bossa & Jazz, performed by Juçara Figueiredo Productions, appeared in 2010 and has already held 18 editions in four cities of Rio Grande do Norte, adding more than 150 national and international jazz, bossa and blues attractions. The event goes to Mossoró and São Miguel do Gostoso and we will be here waiting for next year!
